You go up the tram, take a look around on the promenade, admire the view, and come back down. No reason to hang around.

We to the Ascensor up to the mirador. The view was great, and fun to watch the port...loading and unloading the ships. The market at the top was fun of the usual tourist stuff, but we found some souvenirs at good prices. The walk down...More

A nice view from the top.....if there was not the industrial port. A bit disappointing, very commercial spot. One can walk down to come back to town

I love this elevator because it really has the best view of the Port of Valparaiso. Although is really pretty you have to make sure you go during daytime and you have to be really careful with your belongings. There's a really good crafts market...More

One of the city's most charming features is a series of 15 funiculars built between 1883 and 1916 to transport citizens up the steep hills surrounding the waterfront. It's about 25 cents to take one up to this promenade for very good views of the...More

Not really sure why people recommend this town for visit as it is rather dull. The sea side is just a port and I can't say seeing cargo being loaded onto ships is that exciting to me.

Luckily our Hostel was just around the corner from here so we didn't have to walk much to reach it but the views are stunning! Highly recommended

There's more to Valparaiso than the few touristy cerros. Take the trolley bus and ascensor and see the Naval museum and some local store holders sell their wares.

People obviously go up with the little old ascensor, and that could be already part of the pleasure, but unfortunately not. You cannot have a view from it, because of the doors. Then the viewpoint comes, which doesn't offer a voww panorama. In fact, it...More
