The Plaza Sotomayor is main square in the old part of the Valparaiso down by the docks. Some of the buildings around the square are in quite good condition. In the middle of the Plaza is the Monument of the Heroes of Iquique with an eternal flame. Adjacent to the plaza is the Muelle Prat - the touristic sector of... More

The Plaza Sotomayor is located in the old harbor of Valparaiso and makes for a great spot to start exploring this beautiful city of artists and artisans. Make sure to work your way up to the accesores and visit beautiful cerro allegre and cerro concepcion as well!

Not too impressive. Not much to see. Almost the same as we visited in 2011. 6 years with nothing new.

I must tell that the whole Valparaiso was a disappointment for me. This square is pleasent, in particular because at the seaside, and this location makes it vivid. Unless you listen to a bulky chapter of a history book as it happenned to us on our tour, you don't need more than 15-30 minutes to have a good look around.

Beautiful place. I was there during the "New Year", it is totally full, many people go there to spend good times with a show. There is a good structure, but, is danger.

This is the main square for Valparaiso and contains an impressive statue and a couple of moderately interesting buildings. The negative is that the West side of the square is a little unsafe. We were warned by multiple people to keep our cameras tucked in and our tour guide warned us to be careful on Calle Serrano where it meets... More

Historical monument, interesting buildings, a Starbucks for those who need one, and close to Ascensor Artilleria.

Wonderful spot in Valparaiso. Definitely add to your list of places to see. It's lively at night, so go during the day if you're after something a little more low key.

This is an old town that is run down. There is little order to the mayhem unless you stop to check it out.
