This is where to go if you would like a tight space packed with history. That may sound off-putting, but the authentic atmosphere draws large crowds looking for authentic dining and traditional artistic buys.

La Ronda is a beautifully restored old Spanish street, and a pleasure to walk. The prices in the shops however, are very high. Much better to buy your souvenir chocolate and coffee at the local supermarket (Supermaxi) for 1/4 the price.

We went during the day and it is a lovely place. They say it is even better at night, only that we spent just a couple of nights in Quito and we could not go back.

Chocolate, ice cream and pastries at Khipus are reason enough to go to La Ronda. These folks are absolute pros at making gelato as good as that we've had in Italy. Their pastries and chocolates are also excellent. There is also quite a bit of mediocre food on this street but worth it if it goes with very nice traditional... More

This was a great experience. Lots to do, see and eat. Make sure you stop by the guy who makes the trompos (Ecuadorian toy that requires a string to make it dance). He will do a great demonstration. Be VERY careful to go to the right place. A Street over and you could end up in a very dangerous part... More

The high police presence on this street makes it extremely safe. Lots of great artisan shops including a honey maker, chocolate maker, wooden toys, panama hats, etc. Lots of great restaurants too. Pizza Bohemia is great!

Calle La Ronda is where the action is. We spent several hours strolling up and down this wonderful street full of life. There are restaurants, street artist, art exhibits and just general people watching going on. We walked around sipping hot Canelazos. ( sugarcane and cinnamon with or without alcohol)

Beautiful arquitectural town! Make sure you go Friday or Saturday night for live shows and really appreciate the place. Some shops are open in the morning that aren't open at night so you might want to go back!
