Generally considered Ecuador's best and most famous artist, this is his former residence. The decoration and collection is that of an artist and is at times exquisite, strange and compelling. Probably need about 2 hours to see both.

"The Chapel of Man" (La Capilla del Hombre) and Guayasamin Museum(the artist Oswaldo Guayasamin's residence) are in the same area up the hill. Taking a taxi is essential under any weather condition as it could be quite a walk. Try to get in the residence/museum...More

I believe is quite rare to have this inside look into an artist´s home. Full of art and amazingly well designed, to look modern and at the same time local. The store is a bit pricey.

We walked to this museum from the Mariscal neighbourhood. It was a steep. 45 minute climb up a not very interesting road but we enjoyed the exercise. We were not familiar with this artist before coming to the museum, but got a crash course and...More

There is too much contained in the gardens, house, workshop, and museum to mention more than the fact that I could spend a long long time wandering around the place. Fabulous art from pre columbian to cubists fills every space, but the effect is charming,...More

This extensive collection of works by Guayasamin is housed in a striking building designed by the artist's son. I was not familiar with his work but I found it expressive and emotive. I was worth the time.

it's pretty out of the way up some steep hills. get a taxi, it's a cheap fare and a difficult walk, especially if it's hot.
