This is such a surprising cathedral as it's architecture is very European and it stands out in South America like a glorious mirage. There is a $2 charge to visit the church, but if you come during mass time, it's free and there's no prohibition...More

We paid to climb up the towers which was great fun if a little scary once you get to the last stairs up to the top of the centre tower. Views are great from up here. Some great stained glass windows too........just a shame some...More

Be sure to climb up the walk ways in the Basilica - they are amazing and you'll get a good view and orientation of Quito as well. This place is great like the whole city of Quito.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Basilica; it was reminiscent of the many basilicas I've seen in Europe and elsewhere. The building's architecture is a sight to see and the gargoyles they have appear to be reflective of many of the animals, etc., known to...More

Taking over 100 years to build, the Basilica will just amaze you. The stain glass, alters and architectural surprises inside are not to be missed. There is also a small gift shop with wonderful religious items.

Imposing neo-Gothic architecture, typical of many churches and cathedrals, several of them in Quito. Huge doors, huge stained glass windows, unique gargoyles.

Interior of the basilica is just nice, nothing special compared with old world basilicas. Pay extra for the climbs and go to the tops of both sets of towers. Beware, steep stairs with grates, no high heels!! At least 300 stairs to clock tower top....More

An impressive cathedral with beautiful stained glass windows and a heart shaped window which looks straight at a huge Virgin statue atop a hill some distance away.

The ground floor and towers of the basilica can be visited, although they are 2 different tickets are required. It is impressive to witness this amazing construction and the view offered in the towers is breathtaking.

Hello, i am interest in taking my engagement/ wedding photo at the church aside from visiting. Is there a fee or permit I need to obtain in order to take photo inside the church?
