We had to knock on the door three times to get in. The gatekeeper was unfriendly. The museum at least let us know about her romantic, warrior and caring sides, but was not worth it as a destination.

Museum is small but has some unique Bolivar and Manuela Saenz personal artifacts for both die-hard fans and the interested ones. Very pleasant surprise.

We were given a private tour in excellent English by a woman who seemed really knowledgeable about the things in the museum. Some of the old books and letters were quite interesting, and the room with all the different statues of Christ on the cross was quite good. Unfortunately, while the story of Manuela and Simon is compelling, the history... More

We had rented apartments on this street twice in the past 2 years, but the museum was undergoing restoration so we never saw it until today. The mansion is incredible - you can see photos of it before they initially restored it 25 years ago - it was falling apart! The interior patio is lovely, the views out of the... More

Lovely people, they surpass me whit a great exposition and valuable information. I can't believe that they have that much material.

Manuela Saenz is a fascinating woman with a fascinating story. Sadly, this pricey (as compared to other Quito attractions) museum is not fascinating. A lot of poorly documented dusty relics presented with no context whatsoever. Not worth the $4 entry fee. Better to Google her and appreciate her story and her role in Ecuadoran history that way.

Loved the museum! Such an interesting and important women that history has almost overlooked due to her sex. (From her influential political activism, cross dressing, and fighting in battles, to leaving her husband in a time without divorce and becoming mistress/advisor to another married man) I'm pretty sure Manuela Saenz broke almost every conventional role for an aristocratic woman of... I went to Ecuador researching Manuela Saenz for a play I am writing and I have to say that it was here with Ana Maria that I got most of my information. I was lucky that she was able to spare her day to take me around the whole place giving me a full explanation of Manuela's life. There were... More
