Breathtaking View

Quite a long ride up the top. Wonderful view of the city itself and surrounding mountains. But take care: if windy it might get chilly.

I took the Teleferico trip with the intention of continuing on with a hike up the volcano. From my hotel in the Mariscal District, I grabbed a taxi and arrived at the base of the Teleferico in about 35 minutes ($5 for the ride). It was a cloudy day in Quito, but as the taxi ascended the hill to the... More

We rode up on the Teleferico on our first morning in Quito. We had thought of walking up to it from our hotel in the old town, but the hotel staff persuaded us to take a taxi. They were right! The way was very much up hill. The Teleferico gave expansive views on the way up (and down). We were... More

Tickets are $8.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors over 65. There were no queues either way this morning. We took a cab to the entrance and then we were straight into a gondola for the ride up. It was clear to start with but cloudy at the top. It went much higher than we expected and we both felt the... More

Definitely do take a tour up here when you are in Quito. It´s super easy to get there, just grab a cab. Also the line might be long, so try to avoid weekends and sunset times. Getting up was alright, but we were waiting for a good hour to come back down after the sunset.

Took the gondola ride on an afternoon, and we were lucky to get clear views of the city (most people have recommended going in the morning to get unobstructed views). We took a taxi to the entrance, and the ride up took about 10 min. At the top you can walk around (there's a cafe, church). Be aware that there... More

I went to this place first with family and then alone. It was a beautiful area with many opportunities for hikes and photos. It takes you high up into the mountain to the volcanic range that is accessible via hiking or on a horse tour ($10-$15 depending on how long you want to go). It was about $8 to take... More

Standing the tallest teleférico in South America, this is a must see in Quitó. After the 20 minute ride up (the cabins you ride in fit 6) there's a station the size of the one down below. There's snacks and drinks, as well as bathrooms above. As well as the station there are a few paths. Having other things to... More

This is the pinnacle (literally) of the city of Quito. It's a fun (slow and steady, but exhilarating) ride up to the top inside the enclosed gondola. Tickets are around $8 US I believe, but always check ahead of time to be certain. On the day I went, it was cold, cloudy, and rained a bit on top, along with... More

We had an amazing experience at Teleférico. We started by riding the gondola up to the little area, and were amazed by the spectacular views all around the gondola. The view of the city and surrounding hillsides will blow you away. We went on a clear day with a few clouds higher up on the mountain, and got some incredible... More
