The visit starts with a short film about the story of the frozen ice maiden and how she came to be found ritually buried on the top of a 20000 ft volcano. It's a truly amazing story and the film draws you into this fascinating...More

This was a fascinating journey into the rituals of the Incas and the discoveries that continue to be made in the remote Peruvian landscape. The chance to see this frozen 'mummy' so well preserved was interesting and informative. Really well done

Highly recommend visiting this museum for some fascinating insights to the Inca's. Juanita was on display which was amazing to see. The 20 min video is excellent as well to give you a perspective of what the pilgrimage would have been for Juanita before her...More

The highlight of this exhibit is Jauanita, the frozen ice girl. I had read about her discovery in National Georgraphic so for me it is facsinating to have a story I had read about come to life. the tour was informative.

We did the guided tour in English. It started with a 20 minutes documentary movie. The tour itself was nice, the guide explained most of the exhibit and answered all our questions. But it felt a little as if we were rushed through the exhibition....More

This museum tells the story of Juanita whose mummified body was discovered when the Andean ice started to melt. She was an Inca sacrifice. It sounds a bit gruesome but it is really fascinating!!!

This collection of burial site artefacts and human remains is remarkable. It contains well preserved human remains and artefacts from the Inca period. There is a video initially explaining the excavation which sets the scene and then a guided tour of the exhibit. It gives...More

This is a must see. This beautiful old building is set back from Plaza del Armes and is surrounded be a high brick wall. The architecture is beautiful. You should allow around 90 - 120 minutes to see the whole site

Its a nice and small site, centrally located with very good information about human sacrifice in the inca era. A bit spooky as you are ending the tour looking at the mummy which is the main attraction of the museum. Unfortunately for us visiting in...More

Short film to explain how the frozen children were found, than a tour around a small museum and viewing of one of the mummies itself.

From what i can see in Google, the hours are 9am to 6pm. With Juanita, I would check first as they do remove her for a few months of the year and replace her with one of the other Ice Mummies. Hope this helps

Can anyone confirm that Juanita is back on exhibit for June 2015? She was scheduled to be back May 1, but I don't see any recent posts.

When you are in Arequipa, stop by and confirm if Juanita is there before you buy your tickets. They might have other mummys or attractions in May. The museum is in downtown Arequipa, so do this as you are walking through... More
