Wonderful cooking school with Chef Christina. Small market to learn about Peruvian foods with full explanation, then learned to make Ceviche and an authentic Peruvian dish in a beautiful commmercial kitchen. All in all a fun and rich cultural experience. Karen

Entertaining and very hands-on cooking experience with an engaging chef/teacher! Small five-person group provided for good interactive class. Lots of fun!

I can only echo all the other good reviews. This is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Good food and drink and most importantly you come away with a much better understanding of Peruvian history and culture through the food and drink, very clever. It's not a typical cooking class at all (actual cooking time is limited) the focus... More

We were initially unsure about booking this course because we thought it seemed a bit pricey, but we read other reviews saying it was worth it so we thought we might as well go for it! I'm so glad we did. The course was so fun and had a nice variety of things - learning about and trying lots of... More

Much more than a cooking class, this event covered the history and development of Peruvian cuisine, using some of Peru's most famous dishes to illustrate key techniques and tastes. While only a few recipes were covered, they were well chosen and well taught so I feel confident I can tackle them again at home. Our host José had great energy... More

I was reluctant at first. I know how to cook! And I can go to the market to learn about local crops. For free! But this was really the most fun cooking experience ever. You get to touch taste and smell ingredients and understand their history in a very unique way. Lots of booze. Lots of eating. Great leader in... More

Had a group of 7 that did the class together. Jose was fun, informative, and wonderful host and teacher. Totally worth it. we left ready to chef it up once we got home.

A delicious and educational way to spend 3 & 1/2 hours! Christina, our chef, offered a fun-gastronomical experience for the two of us on our last day in Cusco. After touching and smelling the many seeds, tubers, fruits, etc., used in Peruvian cuisine, we were offered a sampling of native and endemic fruits ranging from tart to sweet. Donning aprons... Absolutely fantastic afternoon at the Marcelo Batata culinary class! Jose was a wonderful host and the food was incredible! Book in advance and enjoy an intimate experience sampling lots of Peruvian cuisine whilst learning about Peruvian culture and cuisine. The tapas served throughout the class are delicious and you get to try a hand at making ceviche, a typical Peruvian... More
