I feel sorry for the reviewer who followed the advice of Peru Rail's website and didn't print tickets at home or ask for a seat assignment. Last year, when we visited, we were able to print off the tickets at home and those included seat assignments. This year, when I purchased tickets for my cousin's March 2016 visit, I noticed... beautiful train ride on the way to Machu Pichu. Snack and beer were good but fashion show kinda of odd. On the way to MP we took the expedition train and it was fine. On the way back to Olla we rode the Vistadome upgrade and it wasn't worth the price but had no choice since the backpack was sold... More

I had wanted to take the train from Puno to Cusco but it was really expensive. I decided on a whim to just do it and booked my ticket the night before. I had had a terrible experience with a 10 hour bus ride earlier in my trip and really liked the train option. For me, the train was great.... More

We traveled from Puno to Cuzco on the train. It took 10 hours but was a great way to see this part of Peru. It is very comfortable, the seats are like armchairs. The service on the train is excellent and you are well looked after. There is plenty of space to get up and stretch your legs, there is... More

I travelled with my family and friends, including two 6 year olds, from Cusco to Puno and it was an amazing experience. When you arrive to the station you are greeted with a tea or coffee and the service only improves from there. Once on board the train you are greeted by the friendly staff and are quickly given options... More

Voted the best way we have ever traveled. For the same price as a plane ticket we were able to travel in high style across Peru and after several days of touring Cusco, the Inca ruins around the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu we were ready for a day of relaxation. We started our day off in a beautiful waiting... More

Understanding the PeruRail options isn't easy and as proof we heard the angry Australian argue with the gate agent for a good 10 minutes this morning. First, the website currently requires you to purchase your ticket and then GO IN PERSON at least 4 hours in advance to pick it up. There is no opportunity to print off the ticket... More

We always want to travel like it's 1920!! Beautifully restored Pullman cars, white-glove service, bar car, open-air observation car, 2 music/dance shows during the trip, one (short) stop in the high Andes, plenty of room to stretch out and roam. Yes, it takes 10 hours to get to Lake Titicaca (rather than the 90-mins by plane), but this is the... More
