Not far. A far should take you for about 10 soles. But you don't really need it, just head to their office near the plaza and if you sign up for any activity they take you for free.

You can take a taxi to the site--that worked easiest for us. And you may have to book in groups of 2 but you can just sign up when you get there. There were other groups of people there ahead of us but it didn't take too long
