We visited the city on two occasions (we were 6). Walked around the city, the Ovalo area. The surrounding streets with plenty of shops to buy souvenirs. Walked also to the pre-inca site.

Beautiful! Surfing and kite flying of cliffs was awesome to watch. Surfing schools all along the coast. Take the drive.

We stayed in Miraflores for 2 nights. It's central to everything and extremely safe. Restaurants, shopping and ocean all in walking distance.

Miraflores has many fine restaurants, bars and hotels. It feels upscale and safe. It is best to get around by taxi, since places worth going are often far apart, distances are often not walkable, and public transportation is hard to figure out if you are...More

There are some nice places in Lima and Miraflores is ok. But still not my favorite place. Unfortunately Lima in general is not the nicest place in my point of view. And Miraflores is average, too.

A nice area, plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes. Loads of hotels and hostels. About an hour to transfer from the airport by bus or taxi. You should be able to walk most of the area and the boardwalk is nice. Taxi to/from the old city

We simply walked and walked and walked - lovely part of the city. This is the upscale side of Lima. Our hotel was here and we ate most of our meals here. Bit touristy I suppose, but we felt safe. We walked along the waterfront...More

The JW Marriott is lovely. Not sure they have a bar on an upper level though. Maybe just take a stroll along the water. Should be fun!!
