While our trip to Peru was initially focused on Machu Picchu, in reading about other old sites in Peru I was amazed to discover the Caral site. Which is a few hours north of Lima. What was amazing is that The pyramids in Caral predate the pyramids in Egypt. I've taken a number of Egyption history courses so was intrigued... More

This was a private tour and I particularly booked it with Archaeological Journeys as I presumed it would have an archaeological basis to the tour. I was provided with a lovely guide and driver and we drove for three and a half hours to the site. The site is magnificent but can only be done with a guide from the... More

Dear Michelle. First, thank you very much from my heart for your honest opinion, this will help us continue to improve and consider different viewpoints of our passengers. It is true that is required to make the journey in caral with a local guide. At the moment the language in which they lead is only in Spanish, we would like... More

The cleanup is doing great, there is finally some infrastructure there. Our tour was organised by the Culture Ministry and they served a stew for lunch that was delicious. The site is imposing: it took us two hours to walk through oldest city in the world. We took two hours as well to drive through Lima with the heavy traffic.

Dear Euggen is gratifying that the Ministry of Culture encourages visits to this fascinating place. At the same time, it is important to get your opinion . We hope in the future you can visit us again. For any query you can find our services on the web as Archaeological Journeys. Thanks again, Eduardo Garcia More

My husband and I arranged a tour to the Caral Archaelogical site with Caral Tours by internet. Paola from Caral Tours answered all emails very quickly and was very efficient in arranging the tour. We were coming by ship, so we couldn't participate in a group visit. Paola organised a private tour for the two of us with a guide... More

I was picked up from my address at the time specified. I was in a group tour and we had a breakfast given to us, as well as a stop for coffee. We arrived at Caral early and had the place almost to ourselves, as we were leaving busloads of people arrived so the early rise was worth it to... More

We used Caral Tours to take a private day trip from Lima. It was a most interesting place, a respite that we enjoyed. The Guide and driver were both very nice and informative and taught us much about the ruins and about that part of Peru. Following the Caral visit, they took us for a lovely lunch in the seaside... I booked thru the company, Caral Tours. The office was professional in their communication and scheduling with another single traveler. They picked me up nearly on time. The driver was professional. Caral itself is fascinating. What was the problem? The guide. Not a regular Caral Tours employee but a freelance "guide" named Mr.Enrique Medina. It wasn't just that his English... More

Since we didn't find any other tours to Caral, we decided to take the Caral Tours excursion because of the good recommendations here on Tripadvisor. The price was quite high (120 dollar per person). The transport was in a small bus with place for 9 people. A perfect car and a good driver. Now and then he was driving a... More

My tour of the ruins at Caral happened spontaneously. My plans had changed, the hotel made the phone calls and I was set up with a full day tour. Five thousand years old and very impressive, from the numerous pyramids to the theatre, only discovered in 1994 and only open to the public in 2003. The tour operator has a small number of people in each tour (around 6 maximum). Cheap for a full day tour. Lunch was included up to a dollar value, but was at a really... More
