Visited Machu Picchu in May and loved every minute there! We went on a tour with Globus and so happy with everything! We were able to hike to the Sun Gate which was the highlight of my trip! What an awesome experience!

We went with a guide and small group. The craziest thing is the bus ride up and down the mountain. The historical significance of this site is impressive. The beauty of the area is amazing. Glad I went but walking all those steps was difficult.

This was on my bucket list and was worth it. The Incas were master builders and this well preserved site give you an excellent feel of their skills. The mountain scenery was breathtaking. You must be in shape and have good balance. The structure is...More

We went to Machu Picchu end of June and the weather was perfect. It was chilly but then the sun came out and then got warm. I suggest wearing layers like we did and just keep a day pack to have your sunscreen, snacks and...More

Machu Picchu is amazing because it is so old and well preserved. The mountains surrounding it are spectacular. However, it is very over crowded with only one bathroom per sex. The men's line was manageable but the women's line had about 50 women waiting to...More

First off, it's well worth the time, hassle, and expense to experience this. And there is plenty of hassle and expense involved, so start early and PLAN! Second, the site is quite accessible for people who aren't mountain climbers, which is nice. I would arrive...More

I visited this incredible site with my two young sons (7 and 10 years old at the time) and their mother who is from neighboring Bolivia. First I must say this place in my opinion is this world's most dramatically situated archeological site. Just getting...More

I belong to the country that gave to the world one of the 7 wonders of the world – The Taj Mahal. It also gave to the world exotically and erotically carved Khajuraho Temples that are a marvel in themselves. Yet when I visited Machu...More

There were double rainbows on the day I went and even the staff was taking photos like tourists. It lightly rained briefly at the end of the day. The clouds passing through add to the beauty of this magical place. Plan your trip now and...More

I am going to start by the positive this is a trip of your lifetime and no picture, video, book or someone else experience can make justice to the magnificence of the place. Awesome and with so many things to see and do, but first...More

I visited last month and our G Adventures guide told us that the worst time to visit Machu Picchu is February because it is the rainiest month and the roads become very dangerous. Not only that but a rained out trip can... More

How "in shape" do you have to be? I can walk with no problem. Climbing might be a little harder but am looking at the altitude also. Does this play a big role in breathing and difficulty with exertion. My husband and I are in our mid 50s and not big exercise buffs!

Even the ruins have quite a bit of climbing, actually more like lots of steps, but if you take your time, you should be able to see everything comfortably. I wouldn't advise attempting any "real" climbing including the... More
