it is a nice trip with charming villages and colorful Inca people. Watch out the market days, these are very colorful and the people are not so awkward to tourists as in other places close by Mach Picchu

this is a great valley: on the way to it you have very nice landscapes and you can follow the river. Not a lot of tourists. There is a nice archeological site in Ollantaytambo.

We slept with Local famili in Patachanca village, and took a trek thru tarrases back to Ollaytaytambo. Fantastic 2-3hr trek thru beautiful scenery. Not very popular so you run away from tourists. Reccomended !

This was one of our favorite archeological sites to visit in Peru - very impressive. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

We loved this valley - following the river that flows by Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. Our driver had the keys to a simple 400 year old church with a bell tower set amongst inca ruins, usually opened once a year to celebrate the Festival of Compadres - reciprocity, when the community gather to celebrate reciprocity. Further up the valley... More

If you have the time it is worth a look. Steep walk up stairs but an amazing view. We sat at the top relaxed and enjoyed the view of the valley of farm land. Bring water and a camera!

One of several site visited during our trip to Peru. Amazing that this was built hundreds or years ago by the Inca people who did not have a written language. The water still flows through the site after hundreds of years. Be prepared to walk and climb to see this site. Two hundred stairs to the top. Even more if... More

Moderate level of hiking is required. Because of the crowd, it is more tiring but the view from the top is impressive.

We made the trip up through the valley and to the village of Patacancha with a guide from Awamaki and were really pleased with the day. If you spend more than a day in the Sacred Valley, consider heading further off the beaten track to this beautiful area.

So beautiful no picture can do it justice. I see why it's been inhabited for thousands of years. The drive from Cusco to Ollantaytambo across this valley was very enjoyable. We stopped a few times to take pictures and buy from locals. Loved it here.
