We went there as friends of Villami Fehoko Fine in the summer of 1969. We met him and became friends at the Newcastle Teachers College. I traveled to Vanua Balavu Island in the Northern Lau Group of Fiji Last March with a friend from Australia to repair a computer lab on the local school there. It was interesting as there are no restaurants, and not much commercial activity. The island has about 1200 inhabitants, or so I was told while there, spread between several villages... More
