I loved my visit to the Gauguin Museum but it was made very special because of the talk given to our group by a great guide. He told us the story of Gauguin's life which was so interesting.

We spent a lovely afternoon looking around this museum. Very well set out and English information as well as French. Some beautiful art works and photos as well as interesting history. Not expensive. Easy to get to, centre of village.

No, they are not originals, but they are very good, realistic, and colourful reproductions. There is also a re-creation of Gauguin's house and a Jacques Brel collection.

The museum was very nice, great old photos, artifacts, and replica of Gauguin's house of Pleasure. I was hoping to see an original but only copies of his work were on hand. Still, worth the visit!

This is a small museum of Gauguin's work and life in the Marquesas. The paintings are not originals as far as I can tell (many of his works are at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris). There isn't much to see beyond his paintings and a...More

The museum has a unique insight into how Paul Gauguin saw the beauty in the islands, their people and their cultural differences. Well worth the trip and the views are stunning.
