This is a communist-era museum which contains many artifacts from Albanian history. For non-Albanian speakers, it's advisable to find an English-language guide. The final room was added after the fall of communism and contains many exhibits exposing the truth of the Hoxha-era regime.

If you visit Tirana,go to Museum, among other things (Katedral and Ortodox Church, for example) I think that Farmers market can be a interstig spot for visitors.

In the middle of Tirane is the National Museum, where you can find and learn interesting things about Albanian and European History. I enjoyed it!

It's well worth a visit with a reasonable amount of Translation of signs into English though never a lot of detail about the artefact in itself or in terms of its historical significance. The Illyrian section is phenomenal. The religious icon paintings are also extremely good. The documentary film on mother Teresa I found interesting as I hadn't appreciated she... More

This lens is every bit as interesting as any of the artifacts in the Museum. On the other hand,... More

This museum puts a face on the mostly unknown (in the west) history of one of Europe's most enigmatic nations. If you are able to, I recommend you visit this place on the first day of your visit: It will tie together much of what you will soon experience. This is a world class museum, so come prepared to purchase... More

This is only going to appeal to you if you like museums and artifacts etc. I found myself lost for hours. Interesting to look into the history of Albania and the Albanian way of thinking. You can clearly see the country has been divided into families for years but has one heart! I would have given this a 5 star... More

Beautiful Roman sculptures. Interesting displays of medieval weapons. Worth the low entrance fee. Highlights: Roman statuary, weaponry and artifact of Albania's traumatic history.
