This is one of the museum you don't want to miss if you have no idea what Albania is like. It covers Antiquity, Middle Age, dictature, World Wars, Sister Theresa... and more! Have a look at the beautiful wall fresco and statues (the best is...More

We basically knew nothing about Albania, so we got a lot out of visiting the museum. The English labeling gets sparser as the history approaches the 20th Century, but by then you need less to help interpreting the displays.

this museum is centrally located on Skanderbeg square. Apparently just been reopened after refurbishment. Extensive exhibition and good for putting bones on Albanian history. Early part of museum has good signs in English but stops later on which is a pity as this is the...More

The museum is a must visit. Excellent exhibits from early to modern history (did you know there were cave men in Albania?). Three quarters of the museum has signage in English. No air conditioning so it does get hot. Go early or late.

Great collection but dated outlay. Several sections lack an explanation in English. Made me feel like an idiot walking around in Babylon. A complete reorganisation is much needed. Their greatest asset: the fantastic gallery of icons.

This large museum has an eclectic collection of artifacts, the best being on the first floor and covering the Roman period. Other periods are represented by a combination of reproductions, photos, and weapons. If you visit in summer, it is best to go in the...More

This museum was great to learn about the history of Albania, as part of Yugoslavia and after. I recommend this museum to anybody who is interested in this sort of history and world geography.

The National History Museum does a good job tracing the history of the country and it's people beginning in the 6th C BC. There are some incredible artefacts from ruined Greek temples and Roman structures which are nicely laid out with English descriptions. The displays...More

The first couple of floors all have (poorly) translated information. Unfortunately, for me, the interesting part of the museum should have been the parts on communism and the leader Skanderbeg. Unfortunately this part is all almost solely done in Albanian with no English translation. Cost...More
