This monument is situated across the Svislach River cross through a bridge to get there. An impressive monument in memory of the fallen during the Afghanistan war. Is a place where many Belarusians come to pay tribute to their soldiers

Memorial to Soviet victims in the Afghan war. Very central: The island is very small. There are some statues. A lot of Belarusian school classes come to visit this place. Which, in the eyes of tourists, is nothing special. No explanations. Nothing in English. You...More

Emotional monument. Was dedicated to soliders who died in 80s in Afghanistan. And monument shows ladies crying, waiting for their sons/husbands to return from war.

I've seen many war memorials around the world which somehow either glorify the fighters of one side or demonize the other side. The statues here humanise the suffering of soldiers' families and make us realise the actual emotional cost of war.

Interesting monument with a strong anti-war message. Nice views over central Minsk. Just beware that the place is very windy, and cold in the winter.

Lovely to walk round the late and arrive at the Island of Tears - I prefer it at night as it looks so dramatic with the bridge lit with red lights.

This is a small island part of the park and next to the river area. Monument itself is amazing. Beautiful architecture which is touching tribute the soldiers died in the war. This place even though next to all tourist attractions, very peaceful. Don't be surprised...More

We were excited and touched to the depths of our souls by visiting this place. The emotions gained in front of the memorial and the "crying angel" are barely to describe (my subjective opinion)

a very moving experience. We've heard so much about the war and the stress to families and it hits home when you are actually there
