We found the place easily. It looks very impressive from outside. Due to Jewish Passover, the place was closed. Will try next time

The architecture of the facade is eclectic, a combination of Spanish, Moorish and Venetian styles of the Vienna trained Bulgarian architect Gruenanger. The largest or the 2nd largest (Amsterdam?) synagogue in Europe. Due to some renovation works, the synagogue was closed for another 2 weeks. There was a notice on the entrance door, unfortunately, there is no posting on their... More

The inside of the synagogue is beautiful and the small musuem, though a bit dusty, was interesting. Worth a visit.

Visiting the synagogue was one of my main reasons for visiting Sofia and had e-mailed ahead some questions, I really appreciated having a personal answer before I arrived. The building is amazing but so too is the welcome and the lovely informative guide. Very definitely worth visiting.

The last surviving place for Jews in Sofia, this Synagogue is gorgeous and an important city landmark, showing how the Bulgaria people are a peaceful bunch, accepting of all religions.

One of the largest synagogues in Europe, with no entry fee - you will be required to contribute a couple of euros to a guide inside the place, totally worth it. Peaceful, well preserved, and extremely beautiful.

Thanks to TripAdvisor we knew how to find the entrance and the 2lev cost. We had already decided to ask for a guide and initially we were the only 2 in so just sat down to appreciate the building. Then a very pleasant man and came to ask if we wanted a guide. He was excellent explaining much about the... More

Big place in great condition! Props to the caretaker for the English introduction. 2 BGN/person to go inside, but well worth it. Don't miss the museum entrance on the back side and upstairs if you are interested in Jewish history (also 2 BGN/person, 1 BGN students). The museum is small, but has some cool stuff in it.
