Strolling down to the Nevsky Cathedral we passed this imposing equestrian statue of the first modern king of Bulgaria, Alexander II. Purely by coincidence, a lively and robust national celebration was taking place in the adjacent Park, punctuated by Musket and cannon fire! We ran across the road, just in time to enjoy the wonderful spectacle of war veterans as... More

Standing opposite the parliament building, this very large, detailed statue is certainly worth seeing. Very intriguing and detailed sculpure is carved into the plinth beneath the main statue.

This is a lovely and impressive statue of Tsar Alexander the 2nd. The statue is located in a square in front of the National Assembly of Bulgaria.

Close to the Nevsky church and right next to the Radisson Blu hotel you will find this statue in honour of the liberation of the Bulgarian empire. You can't miss it and ideal to pass by while walking through the city.

The statue represent the Tsar who won Bulgaria back from the Ottoman Empire. There was a guy cleaning the whole time and flowers everywhere. In front is the Russian building. Cool

Not a lot you can say about this, it's a statue! Set against the backdrop of posh hotels & the yellow brick road it's just down from the Nevsky Church.

After my trip around Sofia, I found myself Googling a lot of what I'd seen so I could learn more about the countries history.
