Nostalgic walk in a beautiful cemetery

The cemetery is worth a visit, like Père Lachaise in Paris. Old tombs of local celebrities, well-kept family graves, interesting architecture.

If you're a fan of European cemeteries or you just want to get out of the city for a little serenity and nature, Mirogoj is worth the visit. The ground are expansive - stretching literally for miles - and the domes and arches were lovely to admire. The cemetery is located roughly two miles away from town's center square. I... More

Impressive cemetery, part of national proud and croatian leverage. I would say it is quite luxurious place to be buried and it's really worth visiting if you stay in the city more than 3 days. Nice landscape.

Beautiful surroundings, unique gravesites, and we were fortunate enough to witness a funeral procession complete with chanting priest and singing nuns.

I love wondering trough Mirogoj Cementary because it gives a feel of a nice park, almost like a Hyde Park.

If you are found of cemiteries, then it is a nice place to add to your collection. If you are not, you should visit in case you have spare time. The outside architecture is the most interesting characteristic of the place. Its is beatiful and intriguing.

The most famous cemetery in Zagreb with long history. Many famous persons from croatian history are burried there. It is surrounded with long and high wall.

Never seen a cemetery so beautiful. Huge place this is and equally scenic as well. Majestic entrance and a walk way. Well laid tomb stones with messages of loved ones. Candles and flowers galore adding the emotional touch. One can see families praying/remembering thier departed ones. Good 2 hour visit in Zagreb P.S- Need to spend 10 mins to find... More

I have travel few places around world, visit some other cemeteries, but this one is very special. Hermann Bollé - architect who build it - was born in Köln, but he spent most of his life and career in Zagreb, Croatia, from 1879. to 1926. After big earthquake in Zagreb in 1880. he was one of architects that build Zagreb... More
