Romanian cemeteries tell you so much more than who died and when. Pictures of family, occupations, even little stories. It is a window to the past of a fascinating people. Well maintained and peaceful. The revolutionary cemetery next door with the martyrs of 1989 is also worth a visit. You can read the stories of the regular people who made... More

This is the most famous cemetery in Bucharest. Lots of actors and scientist are burried here. There are lots of statues and crypts (many are some big authors work of art). It s an interesting place to visit during day (night is forbbiden with some exceptions)

A lovely graveyard with some nice statues. i found the right sight of the graveyard, where older and smaller plots are more beautiful. On the left site are artists, of which I expected a lot, but was less interesting

The place is a very old cemetery, which used to be located on the outskirts of the city and now lies barely outside of the center. It is famous for it's age and history, the numerous families of arristocrats who built large berial grounds within, and a "artist's alley" where most of Romania's writers, actors, public figuers rest in ethernity.

I've seen a lot of cemeteries. In my opinion, this one is good with some unique features, but it disappointed me to some degree. I was expecting a lot more..."flair" for an old cemetery in the capitol of Romania....like the ones in Paris or NYC. Sadly, this is not as grand. There are some unique things such as the underground... More

Bellu cemetery is the largest and most famous cemetery in Bucharest. It is located on a plot of land donated to the local administration by Baron Barbu Bellu. It has been founded in 1850. You could spend half a day here wandering between the gravestones, memorials and statues (the graves are grouped by profession: scientists in one part, actors in another... More

I visited the Cemetery following a guide book recommendation. It was interesting for a short visit, but not knowing any of the people buried there was a disadvantage. Many of the mausoleums are very impressive. Very easy to get to by metro.

I found nothing special, Bellu Cemetery might have some local significance but it didn't seem like a tourist attraction to me. Skip.

I feel this place adjacent to Eroli Revolutiel metro station is like an oasis of tranquility. At the entrance gate one can see a map and using this map you can go to your desired location. My interest was to see writers, artist and scientist. So, I went to see Poet's lane, where I saw the tomb of poets Mihai... More
