I went to see Chekhov's "Ivanov" and Puccini's "Tosca". The actors in the Chekhov play were exceptional, especially Nikola Ristanovski in the title role, Predrag Ejdus as the count, and the two leading ladies. The opera was not *quite* as good, but still a valiant effort. The Tosca was a better actress than singer, but nonetheless managed to sing a... More

Pros: 1. Amazing plays almost every day, from big to small productions. Aim for the long running plays, they tend to be amazing. 2. The building is also worth checking out. Cons: 1. Facilities could be better. Some renovations are indeed required.

My first visit to the National Theater was to see the ballet Don Quixote. I love the performace and found the theater to be delightful. It's small and perfect to see any performance. With comfy seats and plenty of leg room. It seems there is some kind of performance almost every night. Art and culture must be subsidized in Serbia... More

We were able to take a behinds the scenes tour of the Serbian Opera during the week when there were no performances. Fascinating tour. You get to see how & where the costumes are made and stored. How the different sets are moved around and stored. We saw the performers lunch room and bar. At the end of the tour... More

Front Stalls ticket cost 1000RSD. The National Theatre in the centre of the city has a good reputation for excellence and I can fully endorse this after I attended excellent performances of Verdi's opera Aida, and two ballets - The Lady of the Camillias and Nutcracker - all in the one week. The cost of seats is very economical and... More

I have attended a performance at the Belgrade National Theatre almost every time I have traveled to Belgrade. Whether it's opera, ballet, a symphony, or drama, I have been impressed with the professionalism and talent displayed by the theatre's artistic troupe and staff. Also, while the theatre is small, it is beautifully decorated and well preserved.

This is a pride and joy of Belgrade and Serbia. Not only that the outside of the building is beautiful and imposing but the interior as well. On this visit, I haven't been inside, but I have been other times and can vouch that you will have a great experience whether you go to see a ballet, opera or a... More

The Serbs are serious about their theatre, and this wonderful National company presents the best in drama, opera and ballet, all of which receive healthy subsidy, meaning that everyone can enjoy the terrific shows presented. Productions change frequently, so it's possible to see a play, and opera and a ballet, all in one week, all of high quality, innovative and... More

After the pedestrain zon of Knez Mihaillova, we passed by the National Theatre which was an old structure but with nice architectural design from outlook. We could not enter the site due to time constraints and hope to visit this theatre again next time.
