I have been to this square many times. I have attended funeral of soldier and listened to music ...... you can't help being touched by the recent history and a feeling of sadness. However, on the negative side it's the one place in the city where you WILL be pestered by collectors and people pestering you to have pictures taken... More

While the square and monument are both fine, there are other more interesting things to see in Kiev (especially Mother Motherland). But do note that there's an underground shopping mall beneath the square, in case you need to do any shopping.

We often come here when in Kiev, mainly because it is so central and we are usually on our way somewhere else. When you do take your time to have a proper look around you will find some sobering reminders of its recent violent past. You will need to keep your eye out for political rallies and I advise staying... More

Very nice place, however, we visited it in the time just before Eurovision, so there were the construction works. Despite that, we really like this place.

It is kinda small and not spectacular i guess, but it is like a symbol of the city and you must see it. Also there are lots of marks about what hapoened there few years ago - lots of photos and candles for those you died in maidan... it is worth seeing with your own eyes for sure.

Maidan Nezalezhnosti or Independence Square is the main and the very central square in Kiev. Also there is an underground shopping mall right beneath the square called Globus. You can find pretty much everything down there. Some restaurants, shops, food stores etc. Also there is a food court with a wide selection of different kinds of food - Asian, European,... More

Some good activities and awesome feeling at the square. But be careful, because a lot of thieves and drug addicts wander around and waiting for a chance to steal your wallet or phone :(

Maidan square is the site of many historical events, particularly the Euromaidan demonstrations in 2013. The square itself consists of the Independence column, and has many fountains and an artificial water fall. It's worth a visit if you have enough time in Kiev.

Great happening place in the center of Kiev. Sit down and watch the world go by as there are many street performers as it is a memorial on the left hand side when looking at the monument.
