See from the Outside

I always enjoy seeing the buildings of government when I travel. This is Ukraine's Cabinet building, but all you can really do is see it from the outside.

This was nothing special. But it is worth checking out if your in the area. This building looks much larger in person than you would expect.

Well, you look at it, however, you try to go inside it, and you will be met with the guards politely in Ukrainian ask if you have any appointments. So you look at it, walk around it in front, and then walk down to European square and tell all, you have seen it.

Built between 1936 and 1938, the Budynok Uryadu (Government Building in Ukrainian) serves as the administrative building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It is located near the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament Building) and it was the tallest structure in the Ukrainian capital between 1941 to 1954. The architectural style is Stalinist and it was designed by the architect Ivan... More

It's better since they sandblasted the exterior, but it's still a stalinist monstrosity and the fact that its parking lot is filled with ultra expensive Mercs and other luxury cars does not endear this center of power to ordinary Ukrainians.

It was designed in 1937 by architect Fomyn, which said: "I want that every passer-by felt sense of the heartfelt trembling" Really, it prevails above surrounding building and trees of the Mariinsky Park. It's deliberately exaggerated emotionality of architectural character. Powerful arc of central part of facade, hypertrophied energetic rustic quoins stylobata, Corinthian order's columns with cast-iron caps, create the... More
