Built by Kiev monks back in 1051, this striking building is the most holy place in the Ukraine. The caves on the property serve as burial grounds for monks.

What a huge and impressive complex - I wasn't really expecting it to be so big and intricate. The caves are pretty unique as well!

The church looks nice, but I did not find it stunning! It is not organised nicely and it is difficult to walk in the church compound because the way in which the pavement is put together. You don't need more than 1 hour to see...More

Interesting and very beautiful old monastery. From the place you have an outstanding view of Kiev. In the monastery most of the information in Ukrainian, it is also hot and crowded inside where the remains of mummified monks are. Definately worth a visit!

These grounds are massive. From inside the church to the surroundings areas to the caves all the way down almost to the river. A lot of beautiful flowers and architecture to see. I think it's recommended women wear head scarf and men where pants out...More

Stunning complex. You must visit the cathedral and Belltower. Small entrance to both. Women cover their heads before entering.

I am just sorry I cannot give more than 5 stars.Just one of my favourite places on this planet. Art and spirituality glued together in a place incredible and impossible to be described. 4 hours at least for exploring this beauty.

Very nice old place. Must see in Kiev. Visit the upper Lavra first, than te lower one. Caves aren't that impressive, but fun to see.
