We visited this museum with a small group led by a woman who had been there. The entrance fee is $1.50, so it is affordable for almost anyone. It's a small museum, and the descriptions include explanations about the historical significance of the art works. Some of the exhibits are permanent and others change. Currently there is an exhibit celebrating... More

This museum exhibits the works of a great number of Salvadorian artists. I truly enjoy the chronological order in which they've organized the works, and the overall environment --and of course, the art.

We visited MARTE on a quite Sunday afternoon and had a lovely visit. The museum is small but the collection does a very good job of representing the artistic, political, and cultural history of El Salvador. We felt like we learned so much about the country in an hour. The temporary and contemporary art exhibits were my favorite, several of... More

This museum experience is one you will like while in San Salvador. We attended the place while in a business event and they have a good museum display. Quite small but good salvdoran art display. We even tried the restaurant inside the premises and its exquisite. It has a nice selection of international cuisine; well decorated and comfortable.

This museum is split into 6 sections. One was closed during our visit. One of these was a temporary exhibit. Good chance to learn about the effect of the civil war on civilians and artists alike through art. Majority of information is in Spanish. Part of bigger complex including the theatre, gardens (pretty average) and a large memorial. Resturant on... More

The work displayed in the first floor of the museum changes on a regular basis and they have made education programs a focus of their work. I have seen work there that I couldn't see anywhere else. My kids have taken the art classes on Saturday mornings (Jan through October) for $20 a month and hopefully will go to the... More

Great collection of Modern art, including many pieces that are an expression of the war in El Salvador. If you are looking for a museum, which I was, this was an easy pick an very enjoyable.

I am not traditionally a fan of modern and contemporary paintings and sculptures, but I am a fan of modern architecture. And this place is a perfect example of modern architecture in San Salvador, and an example of an exception to my relative disdain of modern/contemporary art. It is an interesting window to the philosophical and cultural landscape of the... More
