We did a nice hike here early one Saturday morning. The parking lot already had several cars in it. Apparently, it's a popular mountain bike destination. There is a fee to enter, but we walked there from the Canopy Tower and they waived it for...More

Great place to experience the Panamanian rain forest! Took several hikes & saw lots of wild life - monkeys, sloths, iguanas, turtles, snakes, butterflies, lizards as well as many birds. The downside is many of the trails need maintenance as they have been left to...More

If you are in Panama City there is certainly a lot to do and probably a lot of people will not take the chance to visit some attractions a little further out. The Soberania National Park fits this bill but it is really worth a...More

We walked all trails, seeing all kinds of birds and small animals, even one monkey near the base of the tower. Also heard the howler monkeys in the distance. we took many pictures here and the hummingbirds were awesome.

A great way to see the natural world against one of mankind's greatest engineering feats. The inlets around the canal and Charges river provide greta opportunities for spotting monkeys, birds and crocodiles, whilst huge container ships pass on the canal. Also very interesting to see...More

This wide, unpaved, generally level road cuts through a jungle filled with birds. But I highly recommend hiring a guide, because the birds can be difficult to spot and even harder to identify, especially if you are new to birding in the tropics. Due to...More

The Smithsonian institutes tropical research centre and a national park. Good parking, easy access from the city. This is a great place to walk and enjoy the nature of Panama, good trails, open spaces and a large variety of tropical plants and trees. There is...More

Is there any accommodations at the ranger stations? What are good budget accommodation options in the area. We will have a car and would prefer to be away from the very touristy areas. We don't mind difficult hikes or 'rustic' accommodations. Thank you!
