We enjoy birding but are not "serious" birders. Pipeline Road just blew us away: we had long looks at so many stunning Trogons, Motmots etc, saw a Large Potoo and numerous small and colourful birds. The weather was beautiful and there were surprisingly few people,...More

The road into this park was fun in itself, our jungle. Jerin was explaining the history of protecting oil movement during WW2, Smithsonian research etc during the drive in. It was really interesting how the area has been used over the years. We walked a...More

It was $5 to get in to the park - It was worth every penny. We took an Uber to the park entrance and walked the Plantation Trail (14 km). We saw many lizards, beautiful birds, a snake, frog, butterflies, coatis, leaf cutter ants, and...More

My favorite hike in Panama! If you go early in the AM, like 7am, you will see and hear tons of animals. The howl of the monkeys bellies through the forest. Look up and there they are. The flora and fauna in these trails are...More

A long trail crosses this park alongside an oil pipeline. It is a dead end trail so you have to double back to exit. There are many birds ,you can hear them but taking a glimpse of them is hard given the dense vegetation that...More

This is one of my favorite places to go hiking, and it's not too far from Panama City (only about 30 minutes, depending on traffic). My favorite trail is the Plantation Trail, there is easy parking right by the trail head, entrance cost is $3...More

With patience and willing to wake early (be there ideally before 7.00 am) you can anticipate several animals. We saw several coati's, monkeys, an anteater, many birds, agouti's, frogs, a peccary etc in a 4 hour walk!

We found this place by accident. What a pleasant surprise! We saw leaf cutter ants, a tapir, a family of howler monkeys and much more within a 20 minute spontaneous hike.
