What a lovely park. The trees, foliage and plant life are rich and very thick here. We walked for an hour along the road viewing some amazing greenery. Unfortunately we did not see much wildlife as most of the animals are deeper inside the brush. We did stop at a ranger station and saw some beautiful humming birds flying all around... More

Guided birding tours by Canopy Family took us to several world-class birding and nature observation venues, including Pipeline Road and Chagres River. Along the way we could watch ships passing through the canal and the on-going maintenance dredging. Read "Path Between the Seas" by David McCullough before you go, then you can visualize the work that went into the Cullebra... More

We got there around 12 pm (coming from Rio Hato by public bus took more than 2 hours then another 45min by taxi from Albrook mall). We went straight to Pipeline Road (Camino del Oleoducto) and, although the wildlife is not very active at that hour of the day, we still managed to see several species of birds: andbirds, woodcreepers,... There are many different wildlife can be seen here. Monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, butterflies, sometimes even toucans. Many tours go this place about USD 100 or more.

Easy to reach from Panama City: either public bus (very cheap - around 45 minutes) or taxi (like 15$ - 30 minutes). If you want to see birds plan to be there very early, maximum 7 am. Later in the day you will see other aninamls but less birds.

We went on a trip along the pipeline road (with a guide) throught the forest - good sitings of several birds. The guide was excellent - essential for a great experience. We took a snall boat trip from the Gamboa resort onto the canal & also saw more birds & monkey - including Tamarin monkeys.

Primary forest within an hour of Panama city. We saw deer, monkeys, anteaters, coatis and about 20 species of bird within two hours. Wonderful place and very quiet during weekdays. During the weeend it is busy with mountainbikers and cross-country runners, so mare for sporty types than for nature lovers.

This is the only zoo-like park Panama has really to offer. Which is also a good thing, because you do not need a zoo in this area because you just need to have a hike in one of the parks to spot wildlife. Nevertheless, this is a rather sad place, with old, and small cages for the animals.

I made some efforts to reach the park by bus. Its best to contact the park administration to find out how to reach: 232 4192 or 500 0906 To reach the park administration I took the diablo rojo from Albrook to Gamboa, it runs every 2 hours, starting at 8. There are earlier buses as well and at weekend it... More
