More
This 265-hectare national treasure is located within Panama City’s Ancon district, and is the only protected area in Central America located within city boundaries. Standing along the Panama Canal’s eastern shore, it’s home to dozens of species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and trees. With lookout points, four well-marked trails, a scenic road and a Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute canopy crane structure, guests can explore on their own. The Park also offers guided tours to groups for a fee (five-person minimum) if booked well in advance.

The Metropolitan National Park is in the city, but doesn't feel like it. When you're in the outskirts of the park you can hear cars, which kind of ruins the immersion, but this isn't a problem most of the walk. We didn't see any animals,...More

Nice enough for an easy walk, great views of the city. I saw some cool spiders and some agoutis. Noise from the traffic lets it down. Four dollars entry for foreigners. Despite what I was told you can't walk to or from the park, since...More

Beautiful, hot and humid jungle just next to the city. Filled with birds, butterflies, turtles and amazing plants and trees. Bring lots of water, but definitely, go and see it. It should be only about $3USD for a savvy tourist by taxi from the city...More

Went to see the animals but didn't see any. Just crazy long lines of those leaf-cutter ants marching along. Did hear some monkeys in the jungle brush, but no way was I wading in there for a closer look. And did I say sweat? Absolutely!...More

We had a nice day getting out of the city. The views were great and it was a nice hike, a bit of exercise.

Please you have to go to this park. We got to see an amazing blue butterfly and hard working ants. Also we heard a monkey and other animals during our walk. The staff is super nice but remember to go first to the visitors center...More

Tried to walk around to see the "fabulous fauna" as advertised, but didn't see anything. I believe the Tijuca forest in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) is better despite the horrendous people. I think this park is not worthy going unless time is available. After a...More

I took the short walk on the other side of the street first and it was peaceful. On the longer walk you go buy the little butterfly house. Go inside. The people are so friendly...bring a little tip money. The hike is at times close...More

I took a taxi from my hotel to visit the national park. A nice place to experience nature in this bustling city. I took a short hike on one of the trails to a viewpoint of the city. I saw turtles in a small pond...More

Take an Uber cab! Tickets at park, not busy at all. Really nice walks with a bit of uneven terrain/hills not too strenous will take 2/3 hours. It really is a jungle in town; hot and sweaty with city views. We saw many birds... More
