Great part of the world to see. So green and natural though it's manmade. Very historic as well. Glad I went.

We saw many bird types, crocodiles, sloths and monkeys that touched us. Rudy's Tour Guide, Rudy expertly identified the plants and wildlife. We enjoyed meandering through the waterways and hearing about the formation, geography and history of the lake. An exceptionally interesting experience.

Having read three books about construction of the Panama Canal before heading to Panama, I imagined Gatun Lake. Nothing could have prepared me for how massive the Lake truly is. And beautiful. If you get to Panama (and I hope you do) please don't miss all the sights along the Canal, including Gatun.

nothing like the fishing you can do at Arinosa. Go on a reasonably priced charter boat. We fished there at least one day each month for the four years we lived in Coronado area. Never did we get rained out and never did we get skunked. The least amount of Peacock Bass that we caught was 40 fish. We chartered... More

I just could not believe that it truly was man made, it's just hard to fathom. Once you go and visit, specially with a full crossing, then you can grasp the magnitude of this place. It also has an incredible biodiversity. Many animals, species of fish and birds. You can also go before the crossing and kayak or go on... More

Amazing views, lush jungle, monkeys and crocs, a surreal experience of seeing massive sea-faring ships going past a short distance away as they follow the shipping lane for the canal.

This is a man made lake covering over 164 sq miles of flooded woodlands (mahogany trees). It was created to fill the Panama Canal and it hosts some of Panama's rarest species of both animal, plant and marine life. It is famous for its boat and fishing tours with bass over 300 pounds in weight! The only downside is how... More

Artificial lake, but you can spot many different animals, including caymans, monkeys, sloths, lizards and many more. There are a lot of tours that go this place.

If you are able to so, disembark the vessel you are on and kayak the shores of Gatun. Beautiful flora and fauna ... no need to do a 'group' bus tour ... just paddle.

As part of a Lindblad Expedition on the Sea Lion, we entered the Canal in Panama City (Pacific side), did the first few locks at night, then dropped anchor 1/2 way through in Gatun Lake. We spent 2 hours exploring Gatun Lake on the zodiacs / saw many monkeys, birds. The lake is enormous. Sunscreen, hats & drinking water are... More
