Gatun lake is a key to the successful idea of passage in between of two great oceans. Plenty of fresh water, used by passing vessels to fresh out water tanks.

Lake Gatun is immersed in Panamanian history, beautiful to look at the sunsets, peaceful to canoe, great fishing, abundant fishing especially for delicious Peacock Bass

Best seen by kayak, this man-made lake feels like anything but. Iguanas, toucans, and 3 species of monkey seen, as well as many other bird species. A nature lovers' paradise!

Passed through the lake in transit of the Panama Canal. The ship provided a narrator during the transit who was very knowledgable and informative and stayed on board the entire day. The canal is an amazing achievement of human engineering.

I took a Gatun Lake Monkey Island boat tour and had a fabulous time. Saw numerous monkeys-Howlers, Capuchin, and Tamarinds. Two even came onto our boat.

We did this as part of a private tour. We cruised along the Chagres River into Gatun Lake and it was lovely. My only issue, as I don't like boats, was that the boat driver thought it would be funny to go into the wakes...More

Interesting to be in an inland lake with SO MANY massive large ships. The views along the shores and the islands are fantastic. There are many companies offering shore excursions or boat/kayaking trips through the mangroves.
