My best friend and I went with our guide/driver from Panama Tours and loved it. We took the canoe from the Chagres River into the forest and walked to the waterful. Water was great! Then went to the village and had a wonderful time. Fresh fruit from our guide was cut and the village food of plaintains and fish tasted... More

While some reviewers think the village is "fake," it is a beautiful representation to see how the tribes lived and worked in Panama. Just as people dress in Williamsburg, yet live a more modern life, the Indians at Embera show us how they live, crafts they create, and affection for each other. This is a National Park program, and proceeds... More

My husband, myself, our 4 kids (ages 13, 11, 9 and 9) and my parents all went on this tour together in February 2010. Garceth Tocamo picked just the 8 of us up in a van that seated 12 people around 8 am. Based on us telling him we really wanted an authentic less touristy type visit, he decided to... More

We had a great time on our trip with Garceth. Wonderful trip up river in the canoe - as the end of the dry season into the rainy season we had to get out and help a couple of times on the way there when we grounded, and then got soaked on the way back when the heavens opened -... More

My friend and I toured with Anne as our guide based on other reviews we had read. The other reviews largely speak for the experience, all I can say is that it was certainly a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience. Anne and all the Embera people were so friendly and accommodating of us, and hopefully we will be able to go... More

The first day we were scheduled to take the tour, we were disappointed because it filled up with about 200 cruise ship passengers. That was actually a streak of luck because that crowd could not possibly have made the trek up a creek for swimming in a pool at the base of a waterfalls. That side trip and the canoe... More

I didnt want to join a tour (although there are plenty) and many are quite good. However it is not a lot of fun joining many gringos on a coach from Panama City and then getting herded like sheep onto the waiting motor boats. It was normally about 15 to 20 in a small longtail boat. It takes under 10... More

Anne is number one. You can't go wrong. Don't miss out on a day in an Embera Village with her.

There are other reviews that offer lots of specific information, so I shall not repeat. However, it is important that the following is confirmed: 1) Embera Indian Village is a Major Highlight of the Panama City area. 2) Anne is a fantastic tour guide. One feels they are with their sister-in-law, or a cousin for a personal tour of this... More
