Monkey Island Tour from Panama City

171 reviews
Monkey Island lies on Gatun Lake, along the Panama Canal, and is renowned for its large population of monkeys, along with other wildlife. On this tour, set sail on a scenic riverboat cruise around the lake and the Chagres River; look out for wildlife such as slothes, iguanas, and crocodiles; and spot four different types of monkey on the island—mantled howler, white-faced capuchin, Geoffroy’s tamarin, and lemurine owl monkeys.

This is a great way to get exercise and experience all Panama City has to offer for nightlife. In a normal year Carnavale is a great attraction here and we were lucky enough to experience the full fun of the event. There are a couple of areas where there is a bad odour when the tide is out but I understand the City is working to remedy this (not sure how:). We were out here every day for our walk and used it to get from the financial district to old town. There is no beach in Panama City but at least this gives you a chance to be close to the water.

It was part of a day trip discovering the best bits of Panama City. Make sure your guide can speak good English and that the vehicle has AC ... Pretty hot and humid in February.

We biked and walked along the water and it was great. There were spectacular views of the old and new cities, the water and the CBD. And of course, the Panama sign!

Walk along the water. Lots of vendors. Lots of places to sit and relax, and people watch. Great opportunity to take photos. Very unpleasant smell it low tide

Now home to the famous PANAMA sign! With less impressive views than at its former site on the Amador Causeway, but still. A great place for a stroll in the Panama CBD, surrounded by highrises, parks and the waterfront.
