Panama’s first national park, this one was created thanks to a landscape created by the now-extinct El Valle de Antón volcano. Avid bird-watchers will love it here, as will visitors who want to take in the incredible views from the park’s lookout spots.

This is one of the places I like to go for an easy trip on week or weekends. You can either hike, camp or have a picnic. The place is really quiet and you can see different types of birds, trees and plants. The hike I like the most is the Cerro La Cruz, once you get to the top... More

This national park is easily accessible from the Pan America Highway by taking the road to Chica' as you come down a series of curves from Capira headed toward Coronado and the beaches. On the way be sure to stop at the "mirador" or overlook for a spectacular view of the Pacific coastline, the Chame Peninsula and the river delta.... More

Very confusing place to hike. At least the paths. We didn't get it right and were actually hiking a different path than we intended. But hey, was a good hike after all, with a great view of the mountains and the coastline.

Altos de Campana is located just 45 min drive from Panama City. There are various hiking nature trails as well as observation decks that offer expansive views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding areas.

Happened to be a very rainy day, still the drive was pleasant and the vistas beautiful. Gives you a real feel for the Panamanian mountainous countryside

A beautiful place for hiking, getting in touch with nature and forget about the noise and smoke of the city. I went to this place with friends, we spent several hours walking through the hills and it couldn't be more peaceful. There you can experience the tropical forest, see a big diversity of plants and enjoy a beautiful landscape view.... More

Try hiking at Campana and you'll have an amazing experience with the panamanian biodiversity and the luxury of the tropical rain forest. It's important to contact ANAM before going to get more information. Take good sneakers and insect repellent with you.

You need a good guide for this excursion. We hiked into the hills, where it was cool and refreshing, a welcome change from Panama City. Our kids loved this day - while it wasn't a long hike (2 km each way) to the top where the cross is, it's an adventure. We used the hand rails and ropes available to... More

We spent about a two hours here and really enjoyed the scenery. Like other parks, full of interesting fauna and just general beauty.

My wife and I drove to the park and we're very impressed with the natural beauty Imposing rocky crags with a variety of trees. The mirador has amazing views and many trails to hike. Not crowded with tourists and very friendly people. Lots of plants for sale along the road too. Good road to drive too. Recommend a trip there... More
