We had never been to this MD State Park but knew of its reputation as a favorite and well used one. We came for a visit just to explore but after we got there we wished that we had brought along a picnic lunch. We...More

We went here on a Saturday for a picnic. Got to Sandy Point early, like 10:30 and had no problem getting right in. This is a HUGE park with lots of shoreline. The closest beach to the first parking area was quite crowded. However, if...More

Swimming, fishing, and boating on the shores is the way to go. It's controlled by the Maryland state park system, but they are laid back a bit on the drinking. It didn't Fill To Capacity on my visit, but the Ranger claimed it does.

Sandy Point is located just prior to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge near Annapolis. The water is brown, but was plenty warm to swim in August. It's not as good as an ocean beach - but in my opinion, good enough to save me a much...More

Magnificent and peaceful on an early summer weekday morning visit. Fantastic views of the bridge both up close and from a distance. Beaches, meadows, and woods all seemed very clean and were enjoyable to experience. The beaches are slim and what you would expect on...More

I have gone to Sandy Point State Park to see the Christmas lights but never during the day. It was late afternoon on Sunday so there was plenty of parking close to the beach. I was surprised to see the golden color sand that left...More

I was there 7/23 with my family. The park was busy but not overcrowded. Since my last visit, the park has been taken over by the Spanish community. And apparently the park service lets them do whatever they want. There was abundant drinking on the...More

Great location and nice clean beach. We really enjoyed how diverse the communities were that attended. Excellent times! Highly recommend.

Cannot beat this park for the annual blue festival. Always have great acts - and, sometimes, the ones you have never heard of are the best "finds." Clean, full bathrooms, convenient, and on the water. A very nice park, with great festivals

Yes. The website says no, but we brought beer and did not have a problem. We tried to be a little smart about it - ie, don't walk around drinking it or plop down right in front of the life guards - but there were no issues... More

I go several times a week all summer long and have never seen any here. I have seen jellies in the nearby rivers (South and Severn), however.
