This was our second visit to the Addison Gallery and we loved revisiting their excellent collection. Seeing their Winslow Homer paintings was a highlight as well as their broad collection of 20th century american art. Ansel Adams photo exhibit was fantastic. Free admission, easy parking and kind, helpful staff.

This museum is on the grounds of Phillips Academy in Andover. It is a first class art museum with a broad collection of paintings, sculpture, and photography. The exhibits are changed 3 to 4 times a year in order to display the breadth of their collection, and to show special exhibits from other museums. We live a short distance away, and visit... More

Envelope yourself in the variety and depth of this permanent collection. And if that is not enough reason to day trip to this quaint New England town, the ongoing exhibitions change regularly. No matter what the occasion, it is most welcoming to experience the quiet space of this cultural institution.

Constant Companion and I have visited the Addison Gallery of American Art many times since first "discovering" it about 5 years ago. It is a true regional gem located on the lovely campus of Phillips Academy. As the name implies it focuses on American Art at the bequest of its founders and is free to the public. Our most recent... I had not been aware of this museum, but saw a reference to their Manzanar photo exhibit while traveling in New England so decided to go out of our way to visit it. A very good decision. It is a stunning building on the campus of Phillipps Academy and is free and open to the public. We enjoyed the photos... More

It's the oldest incorporated high school I the US. Established in 1778 by Samuel Phillips. This school had an800 million endowment in 2011. Lots of folk art antiques and fine art.

As Michigan residents who love art and art museums, we visited the Addison Gallery at Phillips Academy recently during a trip to New England. A must-see for all who appreciate American art. Although the gallery can only display a small fraction of the 17,000 items in its permanent collection, the highlights shown during our visit were wonderful. The iconic "Eight... More

It's a smart gallery with plenty of art to look at. If your in the area it's worth a visit...you need about 2 hours. It's a shame they don't have a cafe for a coffee. I also like to support galleries by buying stuff in the shop but the choice is not great.
