First thing in the morning can be a special time to visit the awakening Botanical Gardens and stroll along its special walks. I chose the easy to manage one and reveled in the luscious greenery that surrounded me. Plants that you don't see off the...More

A lot of work has been done to make this a good area to visit. Good steps going down into Palm Glen, with a lovely viewing platform at the top, and fact boards everywhere, including an indoor area.

A quiet and peaceful place (depending on other visitors!). Can be cooler if you need to get away from the heat. There is an information room and then there are numerous short/easy walks which you can do in 1/2hr if you are strapped for time....More

This was a lovely walk into the palms. If it's windy elsewhere on the island you can get away from the breeze as you drop in amongst the palms. We didn't get to see the green parrots but we did see the stunning male robin...More

The Botanical Gardens are easy walking with board walks though if you wished you could do some strenuous hiking. Keep an eye out for the rare Norfolk Island Green Parrot. We didn't see it but others did.

On the Mt Pitt road 2 minutes drive from town centre this is a must see. Extensive boardwalks make this easy to navigate the gardens. No walk is really long and stairs are few so walking is easy.

Hiking trails seem to be endless on Norfolk Island so a breakfast bushwalk and clifftop barbecue tour with Pinetree Tours, which took us on a leisurely 3.5 km walk in the National Park through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument, seemed like a good...More

The National park offers a number of walks of different difficulty. We completed all walks within the park in two half days and a total distance of 11.7km. The best walk for scenery is the Bridal track which traverses the north coast between Captain Cook...More
