    Amazing adventure with stunning views
Pacaya volcano tour offers incredible views and provides options for both walking and horse riding. The tour takes approximately 3 hours in each direction, so it's important to plan accordingly. Starting the tour in the morning is a great idea because it allows you to enjoy the cooler temperatures and avoid the midday heat. The views during the Pacaya volcano tour are truly breathtaking. As you ascend, you'll be able to see the surrounding landscapes, lush vegetation, and perhaps even catch glimpses of other volcanoes in the distance. Once you reach the area available for tourist to go, you'll be rewarded with an amazing panoramic view of the volcanic landscape and, if you're lucky, you might witness volcanic activity such as steam emissions from a far volcanos . Considering the time it takes to complete the tour, it's recommended to start in the morning so that you have ample time to enjoy the experience and make your way back to Antigua. By returning around midday, you'll have plenty of time to relax and indulge in a spa day at Casa Santo Domingo. Casa Santo Domingo is known for its luxurious facilities and excellent spa services, making it a perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate after your hike.

    A steep hike!
The description of the hike to the volcano is very accurate. It's is a steep hike and was challenging even to our very active family. There was an additional fee to get into the park once we arrived. They offer you a horse ride to the top for additional fee, if needed. Once we got to the top our guide wanted to move on quickly. I would have liked to stay longer. Our guide was polite but was on his phone most of the time and didn't really explain too much about the area. A different guide may have made for a better experience. The volcano was incredible! We did get to see the top but we learned that not every tour does.

    Worth the Climb
I made this trip with fellow travelers on a tour group. All of us were older (at 71 I was near the average) and we chose a climb that didn’t go all the way up. One sign indicated there was another 2.3 KM to go. You do have to be in decent shape by the views are amazing (especially smoking volcanoes in the distance. The drive up to the base camp is interesting, too; you may see women wading clothes in communal troughs since they don’t have facilities at home. It was too early for the pizza place (an early morning start means slightly cooler temperatures) but I did get to sample marshmallows roasted over volcanic heat!

    Volcano “hike or horse”
This is a medium level hike due to inclination, loose soil and rocks. Horses are available to better enjoy the experience. Best to go early as fog and rain may block the view to the volcanos from the top. Bring water and marshmallows! Local access 100Q rain poncho 50Q walking stick 5Q horse 200Q round trip 300Q. 1U$=7.5Q

Wow what an experience and adventure! Make sure you work out the week before if you don't go to the gym regularly lol! My daughter and I went up by horseback. My daughter was so proud of me and I was proud of me too! lolol I recommend the trek up the volcano but just wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty and dress comfortably. I had Superman the horse who liked to trot when I only wanted him to walk. lolol

Worth the the hike. It is a fairly long very steep hike but the end is worth it. Seeing the volcano right up close is very cool.

Nice trip. Not superspectaculair but very nice views all around. Approx 7 km total. Beginning pretty steep but overall it s a moderate hike. Last lava eruption in 2021.

Our tour started late afternoon so we had to have a fast pace up the trail. It is not a stroll up a hill; the gradient goes up fairly consistently with a couple of rest areas. I found it challenging and I hike often. Renting a walking stick from the local kids was the best 10q I spent on my vacation. Once we got to the lava field it was amazing to experience in person. The hike back down in the dusk, with guides who had flashlights, was also really cool. I highly recommend this tour.
