This beautiful church is one of the landmarks of Kharkiv, and one of the oldest churches. Contained in a monastery complex the exterior is stunning, a photographers dream. While I have a personal policy, regardless of permission, to never take photos inside a church when people are worshipping or praying, this church's interior is stunning too. It is always busy... One of the oldest places of worship, which was long neglected in Soviet times but now looks shiny and welcoming. I recommend an unique photo opportunity: Because this is a male monastery with rules on female "modesty", there is a rack near the entrance to the monastery grounds where women can take a free headscarf and wrap-around skirt to wear... This church is located close to other sights and is well worth a visit. You cannot take photos inside. The architecture and beautiful interior are lovely and I'd recommend a visit.

I love ceilings, and the ceiling in this church is very different from the ceilings I've seen in other orthodox churches. There are scarves and wraparound skirts to borrow, for women visitors who don't already have them.

One of my favourite churches in the city and the oldest one! Very rare arkitecture of Ukrainian barocco and a very nice peaceful place! The location is great! Worth visiting!

I enjoyed checking this one out. Although the staircase that overlooks the interior was closed. It ws still nice and worth checking out.

Located just behind (west) of Kharkiv Historical Museum, there is a small gate that leads to the cathedral garden. It is not as grand as other churches in Ukraine, but this is a gem in more intimate setting. You can take a little break from hustling bustling city.

I love to visit this built in the 17 century Pokrovskiy Monastery Complex (also known as the Holy Shroud Monastery). It located right in the center of the city, across Historical Museum. Despite that it right at the busiest area (metro Istoricheskiy Museum and metro Sovetskaya) it feels so peaceful there, especially on the back where they have a small... More
