this gate cannot be missed since it leads to the old city and is part of Diocletian's Palace. It is a beautiful and historic gate. The street in front of the gate has a lot of different souvenirs if you need to do some shopping.

Eastern or Silver Gate is one of the entrances to the Palace and is hard to miss. What's a little harder to miss though, is the "Eye of the Needle" right next to it on the left side if you're looking from the outside. If...More

This is one of several gates that you can use to enter the old part of town, which sits as the name suggests, along the eastern wall, a stones throw from Diocletian's Palace. Indeed the Peristyle can be seen as one enters. This for me...More

This is all part of the Diocletian's Palace and of course each gate is worth seeing. The construction going back to 295-305 is part of the worlds history and that's always worthwhile to see and learn about

If you are already in the palace then do explore all 4 gates. the main gate is the Golden Gate with the Ninski statue. I guess the Silver gate was for the soldiers and the golden gate only for the emperor.

One of only a few gateways to have survived in Split old town. The best preserved wall is also along from this gate so that you get a true impression of what the old town would looked like in ancient times.

Great and well-preserved piece of Roman architecture forming one of four entrances / exits to Diocletian's palace. You need to see the whole thing - not just this one gate - and go out of high season to avoid the heaving tourist throng.

Its one of the four gates to the old city. Its interesting but again it is not a must see. If you find it that's great but I wouldn't go out of your way.

Go to the city museum or get a guide because there is no interpretive information near the gate. We also saw men dressed as centurians and they will pose for photos; they do a formal changing of the guard daily.
