Saint Nicholas is the most important Orthodox Church in Kotor. Located in the northern part of the old town and occupies a position on St. Luke's Square. It was built in the early twentieth century, at foundations of an older building that was destroyed by...More

Located in the old town, St. Nikola is a fairly ordinary church that isn't massively impressive. It's probably worth going to if you pass by as it's free but it's not worth going out of your way for.

St. Nikola Church is easily accessible for a quick drop in. The bright and airy church is newer than most in Old Town (it was built in 1909) but it has the character of one many centuries older. There is no charge to step inside...More

We stopped here as we walked around the very flat old town of Kotor. We had downloaded a guide which provided nice commentary and helped us find all the hidden places. This church did get very crowded as the tours started to come in so...More

This is a big church in a lovely quiet small square. There are so many squares in this little old town but this square seems quieter than the rest.

On a walking tour of Kotor old town you will find right next to Saint Luka church is Saint Nicholas church (built in 1909.) that possesses a rich collection of icons and a beautiful iconostasis made by Cigler, a Czech artist.

Remember to remove your hats, ask permission for photos, don't use flash photography, and be aware that some folks may be using the church for worship and not sightseeing. Enjoy the visit.

Highly decorated Orthodox church in Kotor. What was really special was hearing an Orthodox priest sing a Mass and pray to the saints with a parishioner to either celebrate the life of someone or for somebody ill. Beautiful use of silver in the decorations.
