Situated near the Mostar's Old Town, Karađozbeg Mosque simply can be missed. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful and one of the oldest mosques in Herzegovina. Even though it was partially ruined by the war in Bosnia, the restauration returned it's previous glorious beauty. Don't be misguided by it's simple outdoor looks (which is the reason... More

Just in the neighbourhood of the Mostar old bridge you can see this mosque. This is a simple mosque yet very facinating as it is very inviting to the tourists. It is meant to be one of the eldest mosques in Mostar.

We were unable to go into the mosque because it was during prayer time. It looked pretty and we were able to observe while prayer was going on. It was interesting to see. The cemetery next door is simple but very touching. It is filled with graves from people who were killed in the war from 1992-1994. Very emotional.

Just to start - I found the majority of people in Mostar very friendly. However, I was looking forward to visiting this particular landmark after the reviews I had read on here, but unfortunately my visit did not reflect this. I entered the mosque and stood just within the doorway (ensuring it obviously wasn't in use at that time), and... More

Worth a stop if you've never been to a mosque before. It's very small and in okay shape. We didn't spend very much time here, there isn't much to see.

Very interesting to visit this and also the mosque nearer the bridge and compare the different styles. (this one is much simpler) You did not need to cover up or wear headscarves for either mosque and we felt very welcome. There is an interesting old cemetary at the front of the mosque. Better to climb the minaret at the mosque... More

Karadjöz-bey mosque, seems to be the most important mosque in Mostar, and the most monumental building of sacred Islamic architecture in the region; built at mid of XVI century in Ottoman style, it’s even the biggest mosque in the region. It has been almost completely destroyed during the last war and re-built between 2002 and 2004, year in which it... More

Very beautiful and quiet, on the outside of the main tourist strip. I am a female and was welcomed in even with short sleeves and longer shorts. (I was a bit nervous about the dress code). You must leave your shoes outside. Flip flops are available if you wish to climb the minaret. The hike to the top is tight,... More

Truly impressive mosque located in the center of Mostar, I saw it walking along the pedestrian way and impossible to miss it. I did not enter in but judging the outside I could see it and certainly a top city's attraction. A minaret of about 500 years, really very impressive.

As a non-Muslim tourist this place for me was of course only a "place to visit", also I had never visited a mosque before. The guide greeted me so friendly that I felt very welcome, and he showed me his mosque with so much enthusiasm. I learned a lot from him about Islam and about the customs of Muslims. If... More
