This huge and ancient mosque is open outside prayer times and Fridays. Inside, the mosque is painted with beautiful designs, and a large, airy space of calm and contemplation. Bulgarians speak of being "liberated" from the Ottomans, but the Ottomans left some beautiful buildings and...More

Except on a Friday it can be visited any other day. It is old and the interior is worth a look. Remember to look up at the roof!

This is an ancient mosque, unusual in that it is square instead of round and has seven domes. Right in the centre of Plovdiv, it is has a beautiful, well preserved interior and is well worth a visit
