After being in the old town for a few days we were looking for something else to do, involving a walk. This attraction was perfect as it involved a decent walk, leaving the main square with GPS in hand, it was quite easy as the location in identified on google maps. About 100metres down from the station you cross the... More

This was a bit difficult to find, although following the advice at the bottom of this page was a big help (using Google Maps to find the roundhouse). It was very cold and snowy when we visited, so we only stayed about an hour, but it was still fascinating. Our kids climbed up into several of the locomotives (I would... More

We were really glad we made it to the 'museum' (not really a museum, but a collection of engines) after we missed the turning on Dorobantilor at our first attempt. Once you find the turning, it is easy to get to. We visited with our two kids aged 2 and 4 years old. They were really excited to see steam... More

Worth finding even if you have little interest in railway engines - very atmospheric and no charge! I think the council are missing a trick by not promoting this elephants graveyard

A fascinating collection of steam locomotives a snow blower and crane from Sibiu, Pitesti and others of both standard and narrow gauge engines in a corner of an operational shed with modern engines and units being maintained around you. Great looking at the historic Craiova diesels as well. We couldn't find anyone in the office so just wandered free. Don't... More

If you are a trains fan you will like it. Otherwise there was no one who could tell anything about the engines, there is no post about the exhibitions - at least a small story - this train was in service between 1900 till 1950.

The otherwise helpful reception lady in our hotel told us there was no such thing in Sibiu! A staff member in the main tourist office marked it on a map for us but said she had no leaflets or anything about it which was a shame. And of course when you do get there there is absolutely nothing to buy... More

The place is everything else,a scrapyard,an elephants cemetery but not a museum. It's true, there's a around 10 old steam locomotives but that's all. They are in bad shape, rusty, dirty(especially inside, where's a lot of dirt) and there aren't any explanations in any language. When I visited it,there wasn't anybody, not even to ask me to pay a ticket,so I visited the place for free.

I was looking for places that are less touristic, let's say, for this visit in Sibiu. SO I found this outdoor museum, and it was a very nice experience. Would be great to have some more details about the steam engines displayed there, but it was a nice walk back into the past anyway.

Steam locomotives Museum in Sibiu, is a museum located outdoors and is inside the locomotive depot Sibiu. Access to the museum is inside the Sibiu railway station. It is a more passionate museum railway locomotives because locomotives do not find information exposed.
