Bumpy stoned road leads up to the sanctuary spread over 160 acres. Informative and well led hour tour round a small part of the sanctuary. Tours are at 10am, 11am and 12pm. 10am only operates if there are 8 of more adults. We had a small group, 11am group was very busy. Check their website in case anything has changed... More

I wasnt to sure if this was going to be worth a visit as I was expecting it to be like a zoo, but with only bears there, but it was. After hearing the sad stories of the bears that were rescued from they terrible past, it is good to see these magnificent animals in the fields enjoying their lives.... More

It is very exciting to see the bears free inside the site, playing, running, climbing the trees, guarding. Enjoy the way. It is off road but worth a visit.

The sanctuary was highly recommended by our hotel manager, so we decided to pay a visit. The road to the sanctuary is bumpy and not well maintained. There are only 3 daily guided tours: 09:00, 10:00 & 11:00. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared the history of each bear with us (most of them have sad stories). As we... More

The bear sanctuary is really worth visiting to see brown bears and wolves in nice big enclosures. We got some really good views of bears playing and swimming with each other and their wolf friends. Tours are at 10.00, 11.00 and 12.00 so make sure to get there on time! It isn't easy to find but fortunately we had a... More

Visited from Brasov, as reviews not a zoo but great to see the bears in a great environment. The people there enjoy their work.

The biggest bear sanctuary in the world. A lovely tour guide who was clearly passionate about looking after these bears. An amazing opportunity to see bears, but with a sad story behind each of them. A reminder that animals need to be looked after, or left alone. Not used for human amusement.

This is an animal protection project, not a tourist attraction. Visit bears who have been relocated from zoos or private persons. They are set out in nature to live their life, be fed and do what they want - closer to humans or stay without anyone. Visit only in groups with a competent guide who explains in English or Romanian.... More
