Another beauty

Stunningly beautiful. Take lots of memory on your camera. I like anything that glitters so this was a must for me.

Loved the murals here and the masculine and feminine statues at entrance. Situated near nightmarkets and short distance from river. I actually went here twice I was so impressed.

I took a ferry across Mekong river to reach the village. There are no crowds at all and I walked from one end to the other visiting various ancient Buddhist shrines like Wat Xieng Maen, Wat Had Siew and other temples. It's unusually quite with people enjoying with their daily routine. There was stillness around though walk through the forest area... More

I'm not sure which of the two is considered to be the "better" of the two, but I do like them both, this one and Wat Xieng Thong. Both are a way to get away from the hordes and the noise. Enjoy a peaceful hour or so to check the wall murals and sit quietly to enjoy the serene atmosphere.... More

My favorite element is the painting on the front facade. It gives you an instant happy feelingl There is much to see when you walk around and is worth your time.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Luang Prabang's pagodas. We saw several, all were lovely, but this one was the highlight of our visits. It was beautiful and well preserved.

This wat is known as The Monastery of Joyous Town. The most distinctive feature of the wat is the front facade which is a collage painting of the life of Gautama Buddha. This wat also houses the UNESCO Training Centre for Laotian Traditional Arts and Building Crafts, funding from Norway. They train young monks and novices on artisan skills needed... More

The Wat is located in the centre of town with many decorative pieces of paintings, stencilling and woodwork, the gilding, and numerous portrayals of Buddha.

In LP, there is a Wat around every corner (and quite a few tourists). We sought out Wat Xieng Mouane based on a TA recommendation. The facade of this Wat features colorful paintings of the Buddhas life. The neighboring Wat has a lovely garden area (with seating). Finally away from the tourist crowd, we could experience the beautiful spiritual nature... More
