Visited this mosque in the early evening last night. Most of the complex is covered with scaffolding and building materials and it's a challenge to get good pics. Quite an impressive looking structure though.

Forget about all the flowery tiles found in many other masjids, this is geometry par excellence. This is a rare one in the tourist places.

This is one of the oldest mosques in Isfahan and very calm but you will get disappointed when you see shah mosque or sheik lotf allah mosque, so its good if its on your way.

Otherwise give it a miss. While several centuries old, there are better examples. The practice of shaking the minarets has now stopped -- probably no bad thing given the age of the building.

XVI and XVII century were a glorious period of Isfahan. This is another major mosque dating from 1656. Actually, somehow it looks MUCH MUCH older than that, if I haven't known better, I would place it to the XI century. I liked it, but among all mosques I've visited in Isfahan I would rate it 4th after 1) Sheikh Lotfolla,... More
