An impressive achievement, created by man from zero. Some interesting sights here: The Lost Chambers Aquarium, Atlantis Aquaventure Aquatic Park. There is also a mall, Nakheel.
For a panoramic view, go up to the terrace at The View at The Palm.

PROS
* Amazing architectural brilliant creations
* Absolutely unbelievably stunning design and formation
* It's thrilling and exciting to be anywhere there
* Relish the thought that you are actually standing on artificial island!!
* The craftsmanship and the idea and its fruition is a credit to its founders and designers
* The broad streets and beautiful landscaping remind me of southern California
* The cleanliness is spotless
* The buildings are exquisite and fancy
* The entertainment and malls and shopping and restaurants are all world class
* The monorail on one of the islands is special and unique

CONS
* Only Palm Jumeira stem and crescent are open to the general public
* The fronds of the Palm Jumeirah have privately owned luxury homes and guard boxes and gates- no entry for the commonfolk.
* Jebel Ali is under construction and will remain so for years and not accessible to the general public
* The other large artificial island is private property of the ruler of Dubai
* The World Islands are not inhabitable and require special permission and/or a guided tour
* This is not cheap at all- anywhere... except the monrail

"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I was totally fascinated and obsessed with these many artificial islands, and driving to Palm Jumeira was the first thing that I did on arrival in Dubai- I visited Nakheel Mall and View at the Palm and Galleria and Elli's Cafe (all highly recommended). Of course I rode the monorail. Of course I explored the crescent from one end to the other. I was not impressed with the Pointe- that's one place to which I don't need to return.

ADVICES
* GO- this is an essential tourist experience
* Enjoy the excitement and glamour and revel in the feeling of being on artificial islands
* Try to see the other islands (Jebel Ali is not accessible at present).

A wonder of man made island in the form of palm tree, this is a must visit spot in Dubai. It's best viewed from a helicopter ride.

The Palm Islands are three artificial islands, Palm Jumeirah, Deira Island and Palm Jebel Ali, on the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Palm Islands were conceived around the same time as The World, another artificial island project in Dubai.
Hard to have a good view of the island from down

This is a nice area to hang out in, only if you're staying in one of the hotels in the Palm.
Otherwise, there's nothing much to do here and the distance from downtown is quite significant.
As for the Pal itself - it's really impressive.

This place is really nice to visit. There are many viewpoints that offer great views of the palm shape, and the walkways are quite scenic. We didn’t really do anything over there, just spent some time at the viewpoints. That in itself was a great experience.

Impressive engineering. Location is expensive. Seems to have too many buildings by now. Beach area was nice. Close to Marina area by taxi

Palm Island is a series of artificial islands in the shape of a palm tree. You can see it best from atop the observation tower. A scenic monorail offers near ground level views and is a nice ride.
