Karama market is haven for cheapskates, not so cheapskate and imitations. Well, not everything is imitation. Souvenir items are also available in a lot of shops. There is this little shop that sells souvenir items and for every purchase, a dirham goes to charity. This is just opposite the TESCO supermarket across the road, inner lane.

I first visited Karama on my first tripi to Dubai in 1991 - over the years because of the fake handbag situation, there are no shops selling great fakes due to police clamp down.

If you go here, please keep your wits about yourself as you will be hounded and bullied in to shops perhaps you wouldn't necessarily want to go in. I visited this place with my friend a to see how genuine these counterfeit goods look and they can easily pass as the real deal. Obviously, this is something you will need... More

We arrived by taxi in the afternoon and you do get approached all the time by men offering you designer goods, but they are easy to walk away from. we went to one shop and we're taken upstairs but he didn't have the bags we wanted, we told him what we were after and he took us to another shop... It rained the whole day on Feb 26, 2017. I am not sure if it is normal for so much rain in Dubai. We did not have umbrella and thus we went inside the Karama Centre to spend a few minutes there and wished that the rain might stop. There are a lot of smaller shops inside the center. A... More

Maybe not as good as it used to be - I went every week when I lived in Dubai - but still has a reality check atmosphere that offsets the glitz of opulent Dubai. Food in the Karama is very good and great value. If you like copycat watches, then you will find them here. Leather and clothing are good... More
